Careers at Flat Fee Landlord · Now Hiring

We don't hire
seats. We hire
operators.

Most companies hire for a résumé and manage to the floor. We do the opposite — we hire for edge and build the ceiling with you. Current openings in our Houston office plus Licensed Sales Agents across 9 markets. One standard across every seat. If you want real ownership, real growth, and a founder who will actually know your name, you're in the right place. If you want a seat to warm for the next 18 months, you're not. Either way, we'll tell you the truth — and we'll tell you fast.

A Short Note Before You Apply.

Mo Hashem with the Flat Fee Landlord team

We're building something rare: a property management company that behaves like a software company — fast decisions, clean standards, real care for the people who carry our name. It only works if the people we hire are genuinely good at their jobs and have something to prove.

If you want to coast, this isn't the place. If you want to come in, do the best work of your career, and get paid — and promoted — like it matters, you're going to love it here.

Read the role carefully, apply honestly, and show up ready to work. I read every application personally.

Mo Hashem

Founder & Designated Broker, Flat Fee Landlord

Why Work Here

Three non-negotiables. They shape everything.

These aren't values we printed on a mug. They're how hiring, firing, promotions, and daily work actually get decided here.

Pillar 01

You own outcomes, not assignments.

Every role here has a scorecard. What you move, you get credit for. What you break, you get to fix. Nobody inherits a job description — you inherit a set of outcomes and the authority to go get them. That's the trade.

Pillar 02

The broker knows your name. So does the team.

We're still small enough that Mo reviews every hire personally, and the whole team knows what you're working on this week. No cog-in-the-machine energy. No eight layers between you and the decision. Access comes standard.

Pillar 03

Your ceiling isn't set by someone else's title.

Top performers grow into operations leadership, market ownership, and equity opportunities — not because HR said so, but because we're building people, not org charts. Your ceiling is how much scope you can handle, not how long you've been here.

Open Roles

Current open seats. Each one matters.

We only open roles when we genuinely need the help — and we only fill them when we find the right person. The list below is what's live right now — it'll change over time as seats fill and new ones open.

Role 01 · Executive Office

Executive Assistant

Houston, TX · On-site · Part-time Reports to the CEO and COO
Apply for this Role

Be the operating system behind the CEO and COO of a multi-state property management and brokerage company. Part-time with full ownership of the role.

What you'll actually do

  • Own the CEO's and COO's calendars, inbox triage, travel, and prep — nothing falls through because you hold the thread.
  • Project-manage cross-market initiatives end-to-end: kickoffs, deadlines, owners, follow-through.
  • Draft executive-grade communication — investor updates, team memos, client emails — in the leadership team's voice.
  • Run the rhythm of the business: weekly leadership meetings, monthly reviews, quarterly planning.
  • Be the first call when something unusual needs to happen, fast. Your job is to make impossible days routine.

You'll thrive here if

  • You obsess over details — but never lose the forest.
  • You move faster than most people's email replies.
  • You have opinions about how a day should be structured and aren't afraid to push back on executives.
  • You want meaningful work on a tight part-time schedule — not busywork padded to fill 40 hours.
  • 2+ years supporting a founder, C-suite, or busy operator.

Comp & Benefits:Competitive hourly rate + performance bonus · Prorated PTO · Learning budget · Flexible part-time schedule

Role 02 · Apartment Community Operations

Assistant Community Manager

North Houston, TX · On-site at our managed apartment community · Full-time Reports to the Community Manager
Apply for this Role

Run the day-to-day of a North Houston apartment community we manage — alongside the Community Manager. Multifamily operations, hospitality, and grit. This role is for our apartment management portfolio, not our single-family management business.

What you'll actually do

  • Own resident communication at the property — move-ins, renewals, maintenance updates, the hard conversations.
  • Triage and resolve work orders with the maintenance team. Keep the board clean, escalate what matters.
  • Run tours and leasing coverage when the leasing team needs backup — closing included.
  • Keep rent collection, delinquency outreach, and ledger accuracy tight. The numbers have to match.
  • Partner with the Community Manager to run a community you'd actually want to live in.

You'll thrive here if

  • You have apartment / multifamily community management experience — this role is not an entry point from single-family or hospitality.
  • You've worked in a leasing office, lived in an apartment property management system (Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage, etc.), and know the cadence of move-in to move-out.
  • You take pride in a clean hallway, a full occupancy chart, and a renewal signed early.
  • You want the training runway to run your own community within 12–18 months.
  • 1+ year on-site at an apartment community in a resident-facing or operations role; bilingual (EN/ES) a plus.

Comp & Benefits:Base + leasing/renewal bonuses · Housing benefit where applicable · Health, dental, vision · PTO · Growth path to Community Manager

Role 03 · Apartment Community Leasing

Leasing Agent

North Houston, TX · On-site at our managed apartment community · Full-time Reports to the Community Manager
Apply for this Role

Close qualified renters into units at a North Houston apartment community we manage. Multifamily leasing — not single-family. The traffic is already coming — you close it.

What you'll actually do

  • Own the on-site leasing process end-to-end: inquiry → tour → application → approval → signed lease → move-in.
  • Run model tours on a tight schedule. Walk prospects through amenities, floor plans, and community life.
  • Screen applicants through the property's approval standards — protect occupancy quality, treat every applicant like a human.
  • Close cleanly: get leases executed, deposits collected, keys handed off, and residents welcomed.
  • Keep the CRM updated, the follow-ups on time, and the weekly traffic/conversion report honest.

You'll thrive here if

  • You have apartment / multifamily leasing experience — this role is not for single-family or retail sales backgrounds.
  • You've worked a leasing office, know how to work a waitlist, and have closed renewals alongside new leases.
  • You bring hospitality-level people skills to a transactional process.
  • You're comfortable in industry PM software (Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage, Entrata, or similar).
  • A real estate license is a plus but not required for on-site apartment leasing.

Comp & Benefits:Base + per-lease and renewal commission · Health, dental, vision · PTO · Housing benefit where applicable · Path to ACM / CM

Don't See Your Role?

We hire great people before we write the job posting.

Some of our best hires came in cold. If you'd bring real value — operations, accounting, maintenance coordination, marketing, engineering — use the open application. Tell us what you'd do here. If it's a fit, we'll find the seat.

What You Get

Real benefits. Not table-stakes talk.

We don't bury comp and benefits at the bottom of an offer letter. Here's what actually comes with the seat — on day one.

Real health, dental & vision — day one

Not a 90-day waiting period. Not a dental plan with a $2 allowance for a toothbrush. Actual coverage that kicks in on your start date.

PTO you're expected to take

Paid time off, sick days, and the holidays you'd actually want. Leadership tracks who's *not* taking PTO — we don't reward martyrdom.

Learning budget, per person

Annual stipend for books, courses, certifications, or conferences that make you sharper. You pick the thing; we pay the invoice.

Team retreats + wellness days

Not a wall poster — an actual line item. Company retreats, quarterly wellness days, and an office that treats you like an adult.

Scorecards, not vibes

You'll know exactly what great looks like in your role within week one. We review scorecards quarterly so nobody is surprised on performance day.

An equity path for operators

High-impact contributors earn into the company over time. If you're helping build this thing, we want you to own a piece of it.

Who We're Looking For

If any of these sound like you — apply.

We don't care about pedigree, we care about instinct. These are the archetypes that tend to thrive here.

The operator from hospitality, SaaS ops, or multifamily

You already know how to run a tight ship. You're ready for more ownership, less permission-seeking, and a team that rewards the "why don't we just fix it" instinct.

The EA who has outgrown their current boss

You're faster, sharper, and more ambitious than the role you're in. You want a founder who will give you room, responsibility, and a seat at the strategy table — not just a calendar.

The leasing pro tired of getting nickel-and-dimed

You close. You don't need a manager to tell you how. You want a commission structure that actually rewards real production — plus a base that keeps you sane between closes.

The career switcher with something to prove

You're changing industries and willing to out-work experienced hires to close the gap. We've had our best hires come from here. If that's you, don't let the role titles scare you off — apply.

The Process

From application to offer — in 2–3 weeks.

No ghosting. No 14-round loops. We move fast because your time matters as much as ours.

Step 01

Apply in 3 minutes

Fill out the form below. Tell us which role, where you're based, and why this one. No resume gymnastics required — we read every application.

Step 02

30-minute intro call

We talk honestly about the role, the comp, what a great first 90 days looks like, and what would make you miserable. No scripts.

Step 03

Paid working session

You do real work with the team you'd be joining — and get paid for it. No take-home tricks, no free labor, no 14-round interview loops.

Step 04

Offer within 72 hours

We move fast or we don't move at all. After the working session, you'll have a yes, a no, or a specific reason — never silence.

Common Questions

What people ask before they apply.

Are these roles remote, hybrid, or on-site?

The Executive Assistant is on-site in Houston, part-time. The Assistant Community Manager and Leasing Agent are both on-site at our managed apartment community in North Houston — multifamily, not single-family. Licensed Sales Agents work in-field across their assigned market (9 markets in VA, DC, MD, and TX). We believe proximity matters for operations roles, and local coverage matters for sales.

I don't have property management experience. Is that a deal-breaker?

No. We hire for judgment, ownership, and work ethic. Multifamily, hospitality, SaaS ops, retail management, logistics — we've hired operators from all of them. If you can show us you've run something well, we can teach you the PM specifics. What we can't teach is the instinct to care about the outcome.

What does the comp actually look like?

We share specific ranges on the intro call once we understand the scope you bring. In general: competitive base against market for the role and region, with real performance upside — hourly + bonus for the part-time EA, leasing/renewal bonuses for the ACM, per-lease + renewal commission for the Leasing Agent, and for Licensed Sales Agents a competitive commission structure on transactional sales plus recurring monthly income on every owner referred into managed rental (you set the property management pricing and keep the spread above our wholesale per-door cost). Full benefits apply to the W-2 roles. We don't play games with comp — if it's not a fit number-wise, we'll tell you on the first call.

How small is the team, really?

Small enough that the founder reviews every hire and big enough to manage 2,000+ doors across 9 markets. You'll work alongside a broker, two community managers, a leasing team, operations, maintenance coordination, and a back-office that handles accounting, screening, and compliance. You'll know everyone by name inside 30 days.

Is my current employer going to find out I applied?

No. Applications are confidential. We don't call current employers, we don't post about candidates, and we don't reach out to references until you explicitly greenlight it. Your job-hunt privacy is non-negotiable to us.

What if none of the current openings are the right fit — but I still want in?

Apply anyway. Use the "Open application" option in the role dropdown, and tell us what you'd do here. Some of our strongest hires came in through a cold application for a role we didn't know we needed yet. If you'd bring real value, we'll find the seat.

What's the culture really like?

Direct. Confident. A little edge. We tell each other the truth, we ship work we're proud of, and we don't tolerate passive-aggressive nonsense. We take wellness seriously (real retreats, actual PTO) and we take standards seriously (scorecards, not vibes). It's not for everyone — and that's by design.

How long is the hiring process?

Two to three weeks from application to offer, if everyone's moving. Intro call within 5 business days of applying. Working session the week after. Offer within 72 hours of the working session. We respect your time the same way we expect you to respect ours.
